White wine styles

South African white wines are produced by fermenting the juice of crushed grapes after it has been separated from the husks and stems. The colour, of course, is never white but ranges from a rich golden yellow to a very light yellowish-green. They range in sweetness from extra-dry to dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, Late Harvest, Special Late Harvest, Natural Sweet, Noble Late Harvest and Straw Wine.

Apart from the well known white wine single grape varietals listed, the local white wine styles also include Blends, Blanc fume, Blanc de blanc and Premier Grand Cru.
